New Music

Over the summer a music promotions company in New York found my blog and reached out to me to see if I’d be interested in reviewing some of the music they promote. Absolutely! What a great opportunity to try out some new music that I might not otherwise be able to hear.

These are the albums I’ve written about so far, have you listened to any of these?

The 442s (2014)An eclectic mix of Jazz, Roots, blue grass – all played by jazz and classical musicians!

Nicola Benedetti – Homecoming: A Scottish Fantasy – Violin music from Scotland

Maya Beiser – Uncovered – Some gritty remakes of well-loved classical rock tunes – on a cello!

Peter Boyer – Symphony No. 1 – What an amazing debut symphony.

Break of Reality – Ten – Original tunes by a self-described cello rock band.

Anne Akiko Meyers – The American Masters – Violin concertos by Barber, Bates

Milos: AranjuezClassical Guitar

Philippe QuintTchaikovsky Violin Concerto and Arensky String Quartet

Red Hot + Bach – Love J.S. Bach? Check out this compilation of “re-imaginations” of his works.

Richard Reed Parry: Music for Heart and Breath – New music by a young, classical composer out of Ottawa. Funky, yet very enjoyable.

Time For Three (2014)An amazingly awesome string trio, though I think they just call themselves a string trio.
